With Eat. Sleep. Knit.’s Summer of Socks knit-along prompting me, I decided to finally get off the fence and knit up a pair of socks. Since I don’t like to knit the same thing twice, I decided on Lavanya Patricella‘s DK Toe Up Brioche Socks pattern for the brioche aspect and flipped the colors for the second sock to see what the difference would look like. I decided upon Hedgehog FibresMerino DK in colors Jelly and Zephyr.
I LOVED this pattern! Because they were brioche and I flipped the colors on the second sock, it was not boring at all! My pattern notes are here.
These made great socks to wear in my Knitting in the Heartland classes because it was the beginning of flip flop season (I live in flip flops when the weather allows), but it was super cold in the hotel classrooms. I was able to proudly show off my first socks in class and keep my feet toasty.
I generally hate socks, but these I like. They make great house socks and that’s how I’d wear them. Lavanya Patricella has a fingering weight brioche sock pattern as well here and I may knit them someday.
If you’re on the fence about knitting socks, and you love brioche, I highly recommend this pattern!
