Silverleaf

Happy New Year!

My first completed project for 2020 (just after midnight) is Silverleaf. I guess I could call this one Goldleaf due to it’s beautiful gold color.

The yarn is Malabrigo Arroyo in Sunset. Malabrigo makes the best yarn—this was wonderful yarn to knit with and the semi-solid color makes the finished shawl color visually interesting. I purchased this sport weight yarn online from Eat. Sleep. Knit.

The pattern is Silverleaf by Lisa Hannes of Maliha Designs.

I especially like this shawl because all but the lace pattern is memorizable so you can take it with you on social visits or just watching your favorite shows.

The lace is worked on both sides and is gorgeous in its simplicity. I normally don’t do lace, but this amount of lace was perfect for my attention span.

I have a question about the yarn overs. Some of the yarn overs are a single strand of yarn, but 3 on top and 3 on bottom of leaf are two strands twisted.
Is this correct. I feel like the yo should all be single strand of yarn and not twisted on just some.

I think, and it may be best to ask the designer, but because this is a true lace project with lace working on right and wrong side, in addition to the shawl’s asymmetrical-shape, that’s why the YOs look the way they do.
